The challenge

Investment without a baseline is guesswork.

An AI roadmap is only as strong as the organisation that must deliver it. Readiness spans strategy, people, data, governance and execution. This assessment gives leaders a practical starting picture.

01Tools are purchased before teams and data are ready
02Pilots run in isolation from the operating model
03Risk and governance gaps surface after deployment
The decision this work supports

Make the next commitment with the evidence in view.

The assessment is a baseline, not a grade for its own sake. It makes the gap between ambition and current capability visible. Leaders can then decide whether to strengthen foundations, run a focused discovery, or proceed with a use case that already has the necessary owners and controls.

Inside the engagement

How the work actually happens.

The sequence is adapted to the challenge, while each decision and output remains visible to the people who will own the result.

01

Select a vantage point

A board or C-suite respondent may see strategy and accountability differently from a functional leader. Choose the track that matches the decisions you can speak to, and answer against what is operating today rather than what is planned.

02

Examine five pillars

The questions cover strategy and vision, people and culture, data and technology, governance and risk, and execution capability. Together they show where the organisation is ready to act and where a promising use case would stall.

03

Read patterns, not just scores

A single high score can hide a critical dependency. The report should be read for combinations: a strong business case with weak data access, for example, calls for different next work from a capable platform with no sponsor.

04

Choose a follow-up

Use the result to define the next conversation. That may be an Ascent discovery, a leadership workshop, a governance review or focused work on a data or process constraint.

What changes

Five dimensions. One clearer picture.

The result is a clearer decision and work your team can use after the engagement.

01 / OUTCOME

Strategy & vision

How clearly AI work connects to business priorities.

02 / OUTCOME

People & culture

The skills, sponsorship and habits needed for adoption.

03 / OUTCOME

Data & technology

Whether the foundations can support the intended use cases.

04 / OUTCOME

Governance & risk

How decisions, controls and accountability are handled.

05 / OUTCOME

Execution capability

The ability to move from idea to useful, maintained workflow.

The tangible outputs

Documents and evidence that travel with the work.

Every deliverable has a purpose in the next decision. Fox IT will agree the exact format with your team before the engagement begins.

01 / DELIVERABLE

Readiness profile

A view across the five pillars that exposes uneven maturity.

02 / DELIVERABLE

Priority gaps

The constraints most likely to affect the next AI investment.

03 / DELIVERABLE

Discussion agenda

Questions a leadership team can use to agree what to address first.

The working team

The right people need to shape the answer.

Board members, CEOs, CIOs, CTOs and functional leaders who need a credible baseline.

  • CEO or board sponsor
  • CIO and technology leadership
  • Functional heads
  • Governance and risk leads
What to prepare

Set aside about 15 minutes and answer from the perspective of your current role. If several leaders complete the assessment separately, compare differences in perception as well as the scores. Those disagreements often reveal a useful first discussion.

Common questions

Questions to settle before you begin.

Good work starts with clear expectations about scope, people, evidence and the decision at the end.

Is the assessment free?

The current online assessment is available without a credit card. Check the assessment start page for the latest access details.

Does a low score mean we should stop AI work?

No. It means the route to value needs to account for the constraint. A small, well-owned test may still be the right next move.

Can one person answer for the whole organisation?

One response is a useful starting view, but large organisations often have different realities across functions. Compare perspectives before treating one score as the full picture.

What should we do with the report?

Discuss the two or three gaps that most affect your intended use cases. Assign owners and decide which question must be resolved before funding a larger build.
